Edmonton Oilers Stave Off Sweep, Win Game 3 of Stanley Cup Final

Panthers Still Lead Series 3-1

The Edmonton Oilers are not going down without a fight. Facing the possibility of getting swept in the Stanley Cup Final on home ice, the Oilers exploded for a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers in Game 3 on Saturday night.

The Oilers got off to a fast start, scoring two goals in the first period. Connor McDavid opened the scoring just 3:20 into the game, and Leon Draisaitl made it 2-0 just over five minutes later.

The Panthers cut the lead to 2-1 in the second period on a goal by Aleksander Barkov, but the Oilers regained their two-goal lead late in the period on a goal by Evan Bouchard.

Darnell Nurse added an empty-net goal in the final minute of the game to seal the victory for the Oilers.

The win gives the Oilers some hope of extending the series, but they still trail the Panthers 3-1. Game 4 is set for Monday night in Edmonton.
